National Fire Service Day 14th April 2017

The National Fire Service Day was observed on 14th April 2018, followed by Fire Prevention Week. The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services had launched a series of activities to enhance the level of awareness among the citizens. This year the National Theme for the publicity was;

“Fire Loss is National Loss – Let us adopt Fire Safety Measures”

  • As a part of this awareness campaign, a Poster Competition was organized for the Primary and Middle School Children of the State on 08th April 2018. The Competition was divided into two groups, GroupI (7-10 years) – Topic: “Safe Fire Unsafe Fire” and Group II (11-14 years) – Topic:“Fire Accidents can be Prevented”.
  • A total of 736 students from schools all over the state participated in the Poster Competition. Prizes were awarded to the students who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Poster Competition in both Groups on 14th April 2018, National Fire Service Day at the hands of Shri. Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Goa

  • On 14th April 2018, wreaths were laid at the “Martyrs Memorial Column” at the Headquarters followed by the CEREMONIAL PARADE which was reviewed by the Chief Guest of the function Shri Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, Hon’ble Chief Secretary of Goa.
  • The Department had organised Live demonstrations of Fire Fighting and Rescue operation for the general public and also display Exhibition of various equipment related to Fire Fighting, Search & Rescue, Swift Water/Flood Rescue, Medical First Responder(MFR), Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) and Lighting Equipment’s for the general public at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground.
  • On 15th April 2018, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services had organized GOA FIRE RUN, a 21 Km, a 10 Km. Run and 5 Km. Walk & Run. This Run in the state is organized to Pay Homage to Firemen Martyrs of the Country. Total 974 participants participated in the event. Cash Awards, Medals & Certificates were awarded to the Winners and Participants.
  • During the FIRE PREVENTION WEEK from 14th to 20th April 2018, Mass awareness on Fire Safety by holding lectures and demonstrations on Fire Prevention and Fire Protection at public places such as Market, Shopping Malls, Schools, Banks, etc. was carried out by the Station Fire Officer/Officer-In-Charge of all Fire Stations.
  • In Keeping with tradition of donating Blood for the needy, 6th BLOOD DONATION CAMP was organised by the department at Caculo Mall on 18thApril 2018 at 10:00 hrs. in association with Rotary Club of Panaji Midtown, Sea Scan Maritime Academy and Blood Bank–Goa Medical College, Bambolim and supported by House of Caculos. A total of 88 donors were part of the Blood Donation Camp this year.
  • On concluding a day of the Fire Prevention Week, 7th ALL GOA QUIZ COMPETITION for the High School Level Students was organized on 20th April 2018, in association with M/s. Nestle (India) Ltd. at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji. A total of 110 students from 30 schools all over the state participated in the Quiz Competition. Cash Awards and Certificates were awarded to the Winners and Participants.
